First Tatted Necklace

>So, I’ve been trying to learn the art of tatting. I’ve been learning for a little less than 2 months. Right now I have no interest in doilies, but do have a strong interest in jewelry (or things that can be incorporated in jewelry) and Christmas Ornaments (because that season is fast approaching).
I made this necklace for a swap over on Craftster. My partner was TheSapphireMoon. The swap was Givers and Needers and she had sent me an amazing package! I had also claimed some tatting supplies from her in the STS (shop the swap). I figured I could learn to tat something and combine my thanks for both swaps into one package! Here’s what I made.

It was made using size 8 thread, a needle, and totusmel’s pattern.

My original package to TSM included a completely different necklace. Unfortunately, my cat thought it was a toy for him to play with, knocked it off the counter where it was waiting for an envelope, and the dog thought it was a treat for her so she ate it. I was very upset, but decided to make a new one. I stumbled upon totusmel’s pattern and decided to try to make it. I was so pleased with how it turned out. I guess losing the first necklace turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I love it so much more than the original I had made.
I will probably be making it again, possibly with beads.
What do you think?

>Lovely work! Looks like you're learning very fast – keep it up!

Too bad that the dog ate the first one, though.

>I love the necklace. Tatting is on craft I have not tried yet, but I am going to add it to the list!

>It looks amazing! I'm always in awe of the tinier crafts… there's no way I could do it!

>Thanks ladies!
yarnplayer – I am working on your carnival earrings right now! I have to do some slight adapting because I needle tat, but they are fun!
Melanie – You should absolutely give it a try. It's not too expensive, doesn't take up much room, it's portable and makes such wonderful finished pieces!
Jessa – That's how I feel about knitting and crochet (and scrapbooking, other paper crafts, and probably many other crafts ha ha)!
