Today is the day I write about new recipes I have tried. These will be recipes I found online (usually, from Pinterest) and recipes friends and family have given me. Today’s recipe came from a friend. She says she used to get her roommates to scoop cat boxes and clean ferret cages just for making this sauce. When you see how ridiculously simple this is, you’ll giggle at how gullible boys are.
Marinara Cream Sauce
1 jar spaghetti sauce
1 pint whipping cream
Just mix sauce and whipping cream until thick.
Easy peasy, right?
Here’s a couple pics:
I am no food photographer. I snapped a couple pics real fast while I was cooking. Don’t hold my bad photography skills against me!
How did the family rate it? Duder said it was “one of my better experiments” but didn’t finish his bowl, Cakes didn’t really care for it, Hubby said it was pretty good and asked what was in it (he also went back for seconds, a true sign he liked it), and I thought it was pretty good as well.
I may have used heavy cream, and not whipping cream (what is the difference, anyway?).
Final conclusion: I may make this again with actual whipping cream to see if it makes a difference. If the kids don’t enjoy it the second time I will retire this recipe. I make them try new recipes and decide whether or not to make them again based on how much Hubby and I like them. While this was no more difficult than making standard spaghetti sauce, I don’t see the need to make it again if the kids don’t like it. But if they do like it, it’s only one more ingredient, so I wouldn have no trouble making it.
What do you think? Is this something you would make? Have you made something similar? Suggestions for improving this recipe? Share in the comments below!
